Product Description

Part# KB-Header-C1500RH-350 ; Shorty style header specifically made for right hand drive Chevy Pickup trucks running the TBI small block 350 Chev V8, that have been converted here in Australia.  These headers were developed for use on our own Kustom Bitz workshop truck which is a 1991 model C1500. They are made from stainless steel and come with all the components you see in the pictures above, including bolts and gaskets.  The LH side header has the O2 sensor port positioned so the standard wiring loom and O2 sensor will all fit ok.

They should suit all models in this body style running small block chev. This body style ran from 1988 to 1998.

These headers were developed so they fit LHD pickups as well that have the steering box in the stock location.
These headers fit, do not rattle and they are shaped to clear the standard steering column with the standard column gear selector.   They are quite tight on the RH drivers side yet we are confident they will fit most conversions becasue our truck was converted by slakers and they did not position the steering column where it should be inline with the centre of the driver, the steering column is sitting off centre and closer to the engine block than I would have liked, hence it should fit poor conversions like ours and good ones hopefully like yours.

These headers were developed because we found it hard to get good original exhaust manifolds that are not cracked or warped and shrunk.  Once fitted apart from the better exhaust note we found not alot of difference in day to day running other than when towing our Kustom Bitz trade display race car trailer fully loaded, that on our yearly trip to Ballarat Swap Meet, the small block 350 engine held on to those long steep hills leading into Ballarat alot better than before on previous trips.

Fitting instructions ~ The left hand side is easy these instructions refer to the right hand drivers side.

  1. To get the RH header in, the sump oil dip stick needs to be removed [they just slide out] then put back once the header is bolted up
  2. The shaft from the bottom of the steering column to the steering box needs to be removed to allow room to get the header in down in place next to the engine. It can be re-installed once the header is bolted up.
  3. The column gear selector rod down to the auto needs to be removed for RH header installation and then put back once the header is bolted up.
  4. The steering column will need to be unbolted and slid back a little in the cabin to gain clearance to get the header in.
Other than that it is relatively straight forward job and fitting would take between 4 and 8 hours for a skilled person and depending on the condition of the truck and how easy other items come apart.
